Illuminate Aria inside a thousand leaves
I drift back to cold winters.
Mountains of free sprit
she guided rain rolling over self revelation
she hurried shoulders following us to sea.
I feel the lights go off in the space outside my body
Archival ink on gessoed wood
8" x 10"
I feel the lights go off in the space outside my body
slowness folding the corners into place.
Shadows stretch across the room of my chest
it grows larger.

I worry that I will grow tired because I want to hold things and name them
The land is a clock and time is a sea and light flows from everything in long angles
Mixed media on gessoed wood panel
18" x 18"
The title is taken from another writing excerpt about moving from Minneapolis to Miami:
"Here there are two seasons and one of them is fire. Here the morning starts in pieces far out on the water and it falls from the trees and grows up from the sand.
The line I followed south teetered on the edge of day and night, north and south, winter and summer. One always pushing the other one back.
The land is a clock and time is a sea and light flows from everything in long angles."

I lay beside a lake full of cool, thick sweet water.
18" x 18"
" I lay beside a lake full of cool, thick sweet water. I dive in and my body turns dark and shadowy. I can't rinse the water off. It covers every inch of me. Inside and out."
I write a lot. I always have. I'm trying to figure out the intersection between my writing and my art by using titles for my paintings that are excerpts from writing that I have done at the same time I worked on the specific painting.
